Our community marks International Women’s Day

Coinciding with National Careers Week, we’re delivering International Women’s Day workshops in local primary schools with the aim of inspiring young girls to consider a career in football.

We also invited girls from these community education programmes to Emirates Stadium on International Women’s Day itself for Exploring Arsenal, an event that enables girls to explore opportunities in the variety of professions available in football.

Aligning with this year's theme of “Embrace Equity”, the day featured colleagues from across the club who are passionate about women’s inclusion in the game and shared their expertise and experiences with those who attended.

Throughout March, we’ll also be spotlighting the women across our club, to celebrate Women’s History Month and mark the continued importance of diversity and equality across our game. Maisie Hayden is a sessional coach in our community team.

Maisie said, “I’ve been a community coach for Arsenal for the past six years working within our disability, girls’ development and primary school projects.”

“I’ve been an Arsenal fan since the day I was born, so being able to coach and work for the club I love is a massive privilege. I’ve also experienced coaching abroad, which I really enjoy and hope to continue within my coaching career.”

“I look up to Leah Williamson. She is a brilliant inspiration to our participants here at Arsenal. When I first started, I received a shirt from Leah that had ‘Dream Big’ written on it. This is a great quote for young players to follow as football is for everyone, regardless of your ability, race or gender.”
