Player Profile
Versatile defender Cedric wasted no time endearing himself to the Gunners faithful, scoring on his debut after signing from Southampton – initially on loan – in July 2020.
Cedric had actually arrived at the club the previous January, but injury kept him out of action until the move was made permanent, on the same day as his debut against Norwich City. Cedric had been one of Southampton’s most consistent performers before his move, usually at right-back but equally impressive on the opposite side of the pitch too.
He had spent five seasons with the Saints after starting out at Sporting Lisbon. Though German-born, Cedric was raised in Portugal, and won the 2016 European Championships for his country, then scored in the following year’s Confederations Cup, helping his side finish third.
He appeared in all five competitions for us last season, scoring a penalty in the Community Shield win over Liverpool, but moved on loan to Fulham in January 2023 for the remainder of the season.
